I got several new Marvel blank sketch covers in the mail today, just asking to be sketched on.  I have 4 X-Men Schisms,  2 Captain Americas and 2 Ghost Riders. Of course I still have a bunch of past ones, included the best I've used, the X-Men #1.

If you're interested, prices are:

Full color / Gray tones - Single character - $40

Inked only - Single character - $30

For a detailed background, add $10

For each additional character, add $10

Shipping - $5

Blank sketch cover - $5

What do you find is the best process for doing these sketch covers? Do you remove thecover then reapply? Do you protect the comic at all as you're working on it?

I've never heard of anyone removing the cover. I would avoid that if I were you. A lot of these I do are for CGC collectors and that would definitely ruin the grading of their book. I just draw on them as is, I don't even put anything between the cover and the first page. The cover stock is usually thick enough to not have to worry about bleed through. If it's a thin stock, then maybe.

Fai enough. I didn't think one woul remove the cover but you never know especially with some of the gate fold sketch covers I've seen. I picked up a bunch of Ultimate Comics Death of Spider-Man to try. Here's hoping I don't blow it...

Also, not all cover stock is the same. Some take ink and markers great. Some smudge like crazy.
